Captain's Log is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use the Captain's Log app. The core principle is simple: your data stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it to a server.

Location Data (GPS)

Captain's Log uses GPS to track your boating and sailing trips. Location data is:

• Collected only when you are actively logging a trip
• Stored locally on your device in the app's private storage
• Never transmitted to our servers or any third party unless you explicitly choose to sync your trips
• Never shared with analytics companies, advertisers, or other apps

Photos and Media

Photos you capture with Captain's Log are:

• Stored locally on your device, integrated with your trip logs
• Never automatically uploaded to any server
• Only transmitted if you explicitly choose to sync your trip data
• Not shared with third parties or social media platforms unless you manually export them

Camera Permission

Camera access is used for:

• Scanning QR codes for crew or vessel setup
• Capturing photos during your trips

All photos remain on your device unless you explicitly share them.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth connectivity is optional and used to connect to compatible sensors and devices. Bluetooth:

• Connects only to devices you select
• Shares no data with external services
• Is completely optional — the app functions fully without it

Network and Server Sync

Captain's Log can optionally sync your trip data to a server if you choose to do so. Network access is:

• User-initiated only — we never automatically upload data
• Encrypted during transmission
• Optional — the app is fully functional offline

You have full control over what gets synced and when.

Analytics and Advertising

Captain's Log does not include:

• Third-party analytics SDKs (Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Advertising networks or SDKs
• Tracking pixels or beacons
• Any code designed to monitor your behavior

Data Sharing

Your data is never sold, shared, or transferred to third parties. Your trip logs, photos, and sensor data belong entirely to you.

Data Deletion

You can delete any trip, photo, or log entry at any time from within the app. Deleted data is permanently removed from your device. If you've synced data to a server, you can also request deletion from that server.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
